Conditions We Treat
Neurodiverse Children, Teens, & Young Adults
“Neurodiversity” is an umbrella term that includes people whose brains process information differently from others. These include ADHD, Autism, and learning disabilities like dyslexia (reading), dyscalculia (mathematics), and dysgraphia (writing). We take a person-centered, neuro-affirmative approach with these clients to help them understand their condition(s), develop executive functioning skills (that actually work for them), access accommodations, and address other issues that are common in neurodiverse populations, like anxiety, emotion dysregulation, and self-confidence.
Anxiety disorders can bring debilitating fear and worry to their sufferers. These include specific phobias (e.g. emetophobia, germaphobia, agoraphobia, etc.), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and general anxiety disorder. We utilize research-supported therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and exposure therapy to help my clients face their fears to live the life they want to live.
Anxiety Disorders
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder & related conditions
OCD and related disorders, like PANDAS/PANS, can take many forms and can often feel like they are taking over a person’s life. I have experience treating many of the subtypes/variations including: Just-Right, Symmetry/Equalizing, Racism, Moral/Scrupulosity, Contamination, Harm/Violent, Sexual Orientation, Body Dysmorphia, Orthorexia, Sexual/Pedophile, and Relationship.
Exceptional cognitive abilities can sometimes come with difficulties with emotions, intensity, anxiety, and social skills/friendships. This can be even harder for those who have a co-occurring disability. We work with my clients to address these difficulties and help parents navigate the GIEP and IEP processes to ensure they get what they need to succeed.
